Peace Country Junior Tour

The Grande Prairie Golf & Country Club is proud to be the founding golf club for the Peace Country Junior Golf Tour. As we move into its fourth year, we look forward to providing competitve golf for more junior golfers in the peace country area, as well as continued support from our sponsors. The tour has grown again, as this year we have a total of ten tour stops.

Policies and Procedures

Eligibility:
Entries for the Peace Country Junior Tour are open to all male and female junior golfers ages 10-18 on August 1st, as per Alberta Junior Golf. Each golfer must have a Golf Canada handicap.

Entry Procedures
The membership fee for the tour is $50. Each event costs $25, with the exception of the two major events, where fees are payable to the hosting golf course. Fees are payable to the Grande Prairie Golf & Country Club. Call the Golf Shop at (780) 532-0340 ext 1 to register. Registration deadlines for each tour stop are two days prior to the each event.

Registration for the Major Events
The Grande Prairie Golf and Country Club Junior Open and The Dunes Golf and Winter Club Junior Open, are the tour’s major events.  These events are two day events, 18 holes each day. To register for play in The Dunes Golf and Winter Club Junior Open, please call The Dunes at 780-539-4333.  For the Grande Prairie Golf and Country Club Junior Open, please call 780-532-0340 to register.  Pre-payment is mandatory.
Participant Cancellation and No Show Policy
·         The Tour will not refund entries after the Tuesday registration deadline.
·         No shows for events will incur 100% forfeiture of registration fees.
 
Membership Practice Privileges
As the host club, the Grande Prairie Golf and Country Club invites all tour members to use the three practice areas during the months of July and August.  This privilege is for tour members ONLY, others (parents included) will incur the usual cost for the use of these facilities.
 
Prizes
Prizes are awarded at the tour championship based on overall season standings and tour championship match play results. Prizes will also be awarded at each major event.

Tour Dress Code and Personal Appearance
Players MUST be neat in appearance with respect to personal grooming and clothing.
Shirts must have collars and sleeves.
Pants and shorts must be tailored.
Hats must be worn the correct way. (Brim on the front).
The use of tobacco and alcohol is strictly prohibited on tour.
  
Point System
One day event attendance = 10 points
1st in each age group/flight will receive 25 points
2nd in each age group/flight will receive 20 points
3rd in each age group/flight will receive 15 points
4th in each age group/flight will receive 10 points
5th in each age group/flight will receive 5 points
Two day (Major) event attendance=20 points

Junior Programs

After School Program - Sponsored by Tek Plumbing and Heating

Dates: Monday, June 5, 12, 19 & 26, 2017
Cost: $80
Instruction and warm up at 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. followed by on course play. Independent play will be arranged.
Ages 12 years and up. Students will be divided into appropriate levels for instruction and play. All players must be able to play and carry their own clubs for at least 9 holes.
 

Wee Linkers - Sponsored by the Grande Prairie Petroleum Association

Dates: Sunday, June 4, 11, 18 & 24, 2017
Cost: $25
Age 6-8 years old start 9:30 a.m. or 10:30 a.m.
Age 9-12 years old start at 11:30 a.m. or 12:30 p.m.
This is an introduction to the game of golf. Children, ages 6 to 12, are invited to join us at the club on Sunday mornings, to learn to swing like a pro. Instruction is provided by our team of coaches who are dedicated to the growth of junior golf in our community.

Children will learn to putt, chip, and crank out the big drives. Small groups will be created to ensure our coaches have ample time to spend with each of our future golfers.

Fun Day Mondays - Sponsored by the Grande Prairie Petroleum Association

Dates: Monday, July 3, 10, 17, 2017

Instruction is provided by our team of coaches who are dedicated to the growth of junior golf in our community. Children will learn to putt, chip, and crank out the big drivers! Immediately following the 45 minute coaching session, children are invited to play on the big course.
Monday July 17 - Students will be playing in The Grande Prairie Junior Open, stay for the day, have lunch on us and win some prizes!
 

Girls GO Golf 
Empower, Enrich, Engage, Energize, Exercise
Sponsored by the GPGCC Ladies Club
This program is one of a kind, designed to encourage young ladies to golf for fun, learn good sportsmanship, and lead an active lifestyle. Socializing is encouraged, as a way to meet other girls who enjoy golf as a sport. Over the course of four weeks, we will learn to putt, chip, drive and improve our game in a supportive environment. Outdoor stretching, yoga, and other fun activities will be incorporated throughout the program.
Dates: July 19, 26 and August 2 & 9
Time: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Pee Wee
Ideal for 6 to 8 year old boys and girls.
A fun-filled four day camp, our Pee Wee camp is designed to develop basic golf fundamentals and skills. Camp participants will learn safety, full swing, short game skills, and etiquette. Golf is a lifetime sport! There is no better time to start than when you're young. Our Pee Wee camps are introductory in nature, and designed to make the game fun and exciting, while providing excellent mechanical foundations for the enjoyment of golf and interest in further learning.

Junior
Ideal for 9 to 12 year old boys and girls.
Our Junior Camp is four days of instruction and golf. Participants learn the fundamentals and full swing with video analysis. Your junior will also learn short game skills, rules, and golf etiquette. Instructors will bring students on course as space allows.

in the Spring Programs for free. 
Not only will junior members receive instruction, they will learn how to enter and establish a handicap.
